Jesse Hugh Reed

Jesse ‘Hugh’ Reed passed away on May 3, 2019. He was born on June 4, 1950 in Huguley, AL to the late Walter L. Reed, Sr. and Fannie Reed.

He graduated from Lanett High School in Lanett, AL and worked several jobs before joining the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He also worked at MWR Cecil Field, MWR NAS Jax, AOL and Comcast.

Jesse was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church for 15 years and served on the greeter’s ministry.

Jesse was proceeded in death by his brother, Walter L. Reed, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, Willie L. Reed, of Opelika, AL and Rogers Reed, of Jacksonville, FL as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Pastor Preston, St. John Missionary Baptist Church family and friends for your prayers and support, Heartland of Orange Park, Orange Park Medical Center and Community Hospice. Rogers would like to specially thank his family at River Cove Catering and Conference Center for their continued prayers and support during this time.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 135 Brickyard Road, Middleburg, Florida 32068.
