Jettie Hogans Obituary

Jetttie McCall Hogans passed away on January 1, 2021. She was born on October 14, 1925 in Miami, FL, to the late Lovette and Tiney B. McCall. Jettie was the loving wife of the late Coach Thomas Hogans.

She graduated from A. L. Lewis Elementary, Old Stanton High School, both in Jacksonville, FL, and Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL.

Jettie taught at R.C. Bannerman Elementary School in Green Cove Springs, FL, and W.E. Cherry Elementary School in Orange Park, FL. She also taught Adult Education (night school) at Dunbar High School in Green Cove Springs.

Jettie was a member of First African Missionary Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, where she served on the Deaconess Board and was a member of the “Fall Group,” a member of the Pi Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for over 20 years and was a former member of the Eastern Star.

Jettie played the piano and organ, was an excellent baker and she found baking to be her calling. She enjoyed sewing and made her own clothing, loved to grow fruit trees — especially her orange trees — and she was a social butterfly — Jettie enjoyed people and people enjoyed her.

Jettie leaves to mourn, her children, Velda Hogans and Sonya Hogans, both of Green Cove Springs, FL, Norma Fayson (Rev. Frankie S. Fayson, III), Gibsonton, FL, and Anthony Hogans, Sr. (Min. Stephanie),  Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Kalan Hogans, Imani Fayson, Niara Fayson, Jacoby Hogans, Kristian Hogans, Alexis Hogans and Anthony Hogans, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Emily Hurd (Jeremiah) and Briana Smith-Hines; great grandchildren, Aleeya Hogans and Da’Vani Fayson-Walker; step-great grandchildren, Jaden Griffin and Chloe Hurd; godchild, Curtis Francis; sister-in-law, Patricia Edwards; nephews and nieces, Laval Harley (Linda), Lindsey Diane Patterson, Langston Harley (Patricia), Zuri Edwards (Lona), Byl Holte, Stayce Holte and Percy Rogers. She is also survived by great nephews and nieces, Eric Harley, Craig Harley, Aquaria Harley, Nina Harley, Jason Harley, Veronica Nicole Harley, Gia Edwards and Leyla Edwards; grand fur-baby, Ringo Hogans and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
