John N. Eubanks, Jr., 84, shed his earthly vessel on December 16, 2022, to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with loved ones that preceded him in death. He passed away at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. John was born on November 6, 1938, in Madison, Florida, to the late John N. Eubanks, Sr. and Ethel W. Eubanks. He lived in Jacksonville, Florida, for the past fifty years.
John’s life was a testament to his love and devotion to faith, family, and country. He could be found every morning, studying his Bible and praying to God. On October 6, 1956, he married Helen Patricia “Pat” Eubanks in Nahunta, Georgia. For over sixty-four years the couple remained married, until Pat’s death on July 25, 2021. John joined the Navy in 1956, and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer Flight Engineer on August 16, 1978.
After his retirement from the service, John owned and operated his own business, Quality TV, for thirty years. He was an active member of both the Florida Electronic Sales and Service Association and the National Electronics Service Dealers Association for many years. John also served terms as president for both organizations, where he played an important role in improving the television and electronics service industry.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughters, Helen Louise “Lou” Rymsza and Debra E. Benninghoff; his son, John W. Eubanks; his sister, Patricia Aldridge-Zimmerman; and his son-in-law, Charles Ray Shinholser, Jr. John is survived by his son, James W. Eubanks; his sister, Linda Stoutamire (Richard); his four grandchildren, Mandy Pagano (Tony), Kate Mann, Michael Shinholser (Sarah), and Robert Rymsza (Sarah); his five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Lara Pagano, Jacob Brock, and Evan and Lilly Shinholser; and his sons-in-law, Robert “Bob” Rymsza and Richard “Rick” Benninghoff.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073. John will be laid to rest with his wife at 1:00 pm, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
