John W. Hixon

John William Hixon departed this life on May 12, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on October 9, 1951, to the late Mildred Parrish Hixon and James Oscar Hixon in Villa Rica, Georgia.

John attended Villa Rica High School and West Georgia College. He was a retail manager in several big box store operations for 50 years. John was a member of Highpoint Community Church.

John never met a stranger. He loved God, people, animals and serving others. He enjoyed the water, grilling and NASCAR. John loved camping, fishing and was an excellent marksman. He found humor in almost everything. John had an infectious smile and brought warmth and ease to all of those around him.

John loved his family. He will be remembered and treasured until they are reunited with him and our Lord in eternity.

John was preceded in death by his parents, James Oscar and Mildred Parrish Hixon.

John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Penny Hixon; children, Jessica Sauter and Kevin (Miriam) Hixon; seven grandchildren, Jakob Sauter, Scott Sauter, Rory Sauter, Lia Sauter, Amelia Hixon, Leia Hixon and Lilah Hixon; brother, Jim (Barb) Hixon; sister, Judy (Sam) Jackson; nieces, Stacy Jackson, Kim Jackson, Alanna Jackson and Kate Hixon; nephews, Brian Hixon, Trevor Hixon and Cole Hixon; great-niece, Kira Jackson; great-nephew, Jaiye Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Highpoint Community Church, 84 Knight Boxx Road, Orange Park, Florida, 32065. A light meal will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of John to Highpoint Community Church.
