Joseph Hendry Obituary

Joseph Adolphus Hendry, 67, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away in his home on October 13, 2021. He was born on January 17, 1954 in Seffner, Florida, to the late Robert Rayfield Hendry and Orlando Council. Hendry, as he was lovingly called by his Jacksonville family, graduated from Brandon High School in the class of 1972. Hendry received his Associate Degree in Arts from Florida Community College. He proudly served in the US Navy for 23 years. After his retirement from the Navy, he obtained his Real Estate and Mortgage Broker License. Hendry worked for Duval Honda for 10 years and continued to work for Primerica until his death.

Joseph was a faithful member of King Solomon United Baptist Church. He was also a member of the General Grand Masonic Congress, Lodge#90 (UD). When not in church or the lodge, he could be found fishing, golfing, playing the piano or guitar, singing, writing positive words and reading. Anyone who knew Joseph was touched by his kindness, humor and mild temperament. He was truly a peacemaker and a source of positivity.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy M. McCardy and Betty McCray; brothers, Willie George Hendry, Ronnie A. Hendry, Leonard R. Hendry, Samuel D. Hendry and Robert C. Hendry.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Paulette Hendry; children, Leeartis A. Hendry, Rishani J. Hendry Broadhurst (Venus), Tuwana Crooms (Marcus), Pamela Jackson (Derrick Turner), Paula Dicks (Byron), Andre Mann; brother, Marshall Hendry; sisters, Linda Walker, Wanda Williams (Juan) and Ethel Lee Hendry; mother-in-law, Nancy Austin;15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren as well as a host of family members and friends.

Joseph, we love you and will truly miss you.

 

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073. Mr. Hendry will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
