Josephine Hunt, a loved wife, mother and sister, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2023 at the age of 80 years old.
Josephine was born January 25, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Frank and Angelina Pizzonia. She married her lifelong friend, Kenneth, in 1964 in her hometown of east New York Brooklyn. Devoted to her Brooklyn family, she was the beloved third sibling of six including, Dominick, Louise, Anthony, Albert and Frankie.
Jo remained a resident of the city that was so close to her heart until June 1973 when she relocated to Detroit, Michigan, with her husband, Kenneth, and only daughter, Charis, born in 1972.
Josephine was an accomplished seamstress and worked in the garment industry for over 10 years. As with anything she set her hands to, she was always the best, the fastest and the hardest working on her team. She sewed her own clothes and her daughter’s outfits and found great pride in her skills.
She had a passion for interior design and a glamorous personal style that turned heads. Her homes were modern and classic.
Jo was most cherished as a friend and a confidant, as friends around the country kept in touch with her over several decades and found her to be a source of trust, wisdom, love and support through all of life’s storms.
Her generosity was her trademark. Whether it was a friend in need, or just a way to show love, Jo was the first to offer all that she had. With an infectious sense of humor, her wit, her honesty and her compassion for others is the gift she leaves behind to us all.
Jo accepted Christ as Lord of her life at Word of Faith Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan. The profession of her faith comforts our hearts to know that although we miss her in this life, she is at peace with the Lord and we will indeed see her again. Josephine’s love and generosity lives in the memories of the friends and family members whom she encouraged, loved and cared for. Let’s honor her memory every day by living with the same honesty and compassion that Jo shared with this world every day.
We will love and miss Josephine always. She was greeted in heaven by her father, Frank, her mother, Angelina, and her sister, Louise. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, her daughter, Charis (Tyler), brothers, Dominick (Barbara), Anthony, Albert (Judy), Frankie (Linda), and a host of nieces and nephews.
