Judith Alive Pinkava

Judith Alice Pinkava (nee Nelson), a Registered Nurse and resident of Fleming Island, FL, passed unexpectedly on December 4, 2023 at the age of 62, while at home. 

Judith is survived by her husband of 39 years, Christopher Pinkava; her children, Nicholas Anthony and Shannon Marie; her brothers, Stephen, Douglas and Brian Nelson; as well as her brothers-in-law, Michael, Stephen, John and Daniel Pinkava. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Laurel Ericson. 

Judith was born in South Weymouth, MA, on May 20, 1961 to Roy V. Nelson and Dorothy Nelson. She graduated from New England Baptist School of Nursing in 1983 with her Registered Nursing degree and worked at Faulkner Hospital in Boston. In June of 1984, she married Christopher Pinkava, an Electronic Technician working for the US Navy. In April 1986, they welcomed their son Nicholas and in September 1991, their daughter, Shannon Marie. In 1992, work took the family to Oahu, HI, where Judith and Christopher continued their careers. In 1996, the family moved to Fleming Island, FL, where they continue to reside. 

Judith was a devoted mother and nurse. She enjoyed skiing, tennis, reading and gardening. Jude volunteered for many years as a builder for Habitat for Humanity in the Clay County area. She was a talented pianist, as well. While the family resided in Hawaii, Judith worked at various private duty nursing agencies and traveled to both Hawaii and Maui for private duty cases. Judith loved to vacation and the family visited Bali, Indonesia and Chiang Mai, Thailand while living in Hawaii.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
