Julia Mae Ridley, 83, passed away on September 15, 2021 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on April 5, 1938 in Albany, GA, to the late Joe and Mamie Shine, Sr.
Julia graduated from Monroe High School in Albany, GA. After graduation, she married her long-time sweetheart, Mack Ridley, Jr. and lived a Navy military life. To this union, four children were born, Vicki, Debra, Michael and Mark. Julia was a wonderful homemaker and the matriarch of the family. She loved spending time with family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, sewing, collecting porcelain dolls, making ceramics and loved her bowling league.
Preceding Julia in death are her parents; husband, Mack Ridley, Jr.; brothers, Joe Shine Jr., Ben Shine and L.C. Shine; sisters, Melba Shine and Emma Green.
Left to cherish Julia’s memory are her children, Vicki (Greg) Villalobos, Debra (Vincent) Nelms, Michael (Doris) Ridley and Mark (Sharon) Ridley; grandchildren, Danielle, Andre, Michelle, Janelle, Gregory, Brandon, Brittany, Shasta, Johnny, Marcus and Jianna; sister, Martha Shine; brother, Bill (Barbara) Shine; best life-long friend, Josie Malone Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the Benton House at Oakleaf for their wonderful care given to Ms. Julia.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service 2:30 p.m. both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073.
