Kenneth Alcorn Obituary

Kenneth Walker Alcorn, Orange Park, Florida — Kenneth “Kenny” Walker Alcorn was born in Savannah, Georgia, September 23, 1949, and passed away at home on July 14, 2024 from complications of COPD.

Kenny attended Lee High School in Jacksonville and was drafted into the US Army, serving active duty in Vietnam 1968/69. After military service, he attended FJC, where he met Jo-Anne in Art History class, and later the University of North Florida on the GI Bill, graduating with a BA degree in Graphic Arts. He had a successful career as an Art Director for local Jacksonville graphic art production companies, including General Graphics and White Graphics, and retired in 2015.

Kenny loved his family and friends and was extremely proud of his three children, who all graduated from college and grew to be kind, artistic and generous adults. He loved baseball (playing, coaching Little League and watching the Yankees and the Braves), surf fishing at Talbot Island and golfing anywhere and everywhere. He also enjoyed all types of music and playing acoustic guitar with family and friends. His favorites included Dylan, Lightfoot, Ian & Sylvia, Springsteen (they have the same birthday), Adele and MBD. He was a true Renaissance man who could redo any room in the house, landscape the yard, and was a well-liked manager and creative painter. He was a wonderful husband, super great dad and supportive friend and will be so, so missed.

He was predeceased by his parents, Claude V. Alcorn and Sylvia J. Alcorn nee Kirk, brother, Kirk Alcorn and sister, Claudia Alcorn (Eaton); special aunts, Odie (Frank), Velma, Marguerite (Johnny) and Rosa; and in-laws, John Sr., Marjory, Maureen, Jay and Jeff.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jo-Anne Gorman Alcorn; his sons, Bradley Walker Alcorn and Ian Michael Alcorn; daughter, Caitlin Marjory Alcorn Gleed (Jeremy); only grandson, Roland W. Gleed; brother, David A. Alcorn; cousins, Mark and David; nephews, Jamie and Miah; nieces, Emily and Kelly; and in-laws, Jacqueline, John Jr., Jean, Janice and Patricia.
