LaBerta Elaine Finck, adopted Battacootta, 84, Of Orange Park, passed away on Wednesday February 8, 2023 at 1:11 am, at Hospice Haven in Palatka, FL from small cell lung cancer. She was born in Milford, Ma on November 27, 1938.
She graduated from St. Mary's Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956. LaBerta was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved bingo and won every time, she was an avid reader, enjoyed canning, loved bird watching, doing puzzles and crosswords on the computer. LaBerta was "Our Golden Girl."
She was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, William R. Finck, Sr.; her parents, Doris Ethel Stevens Vasile and Eugene R. Vasile; her brother-in law. John C. Finck of South Carolina; great-grandchildren Joseph, Lillian and Patrick and grandson Nicholas.
LaBerta is survived by three children, Eugene R. Finck and his lovely wife Bernadette, (who also was her caregiver) of Orange Park, granddaughter, Erin Finck Fontenot and husband Anthony Fontenot of Jacksonville, great-grandchildren, Sean, Ronan, Aurora, August. Grandson Eugene R. Finck Jr. of Jacksonville. Her beautiful daughter, Diana Bare of Watertown, Ny, granddaughter, Christina Bare of Copenhagen, Ny, great-grandchildren Jaziah and Jaliyah, Brantley, Braydon. granddaughter, Jessica Bare of Watertown, Ny, great-grandchildren Alanah, Karter, Nicholas and Levi. Her son, William R. Finck, Jr. of Florida, her granddaughter Jennifer Finck of New York, great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kylie, Ezra. Her grandson Billy Finck and his wife Kelly of Pennsylvania, great-grandchildren, Aidan, Liam, Anya. Grandson Robert Finck Cryle and husband Gary of New York, grandson Alex Finck. Grandson Edward Finck and his wife Ashley of Nebraska, great-grandchildren Korbin and Kairi and numerous cousins.
