Larry Burns Obituary

Larry Donald Burns of Jacksonville, Florida, transitioned to his heavenly home with his Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020.  Larry was born to the late Bennie Burns and the late Willa Mae Edwards in Miami, Florida.  He was a faithful, inaugural member, of Love Alive Church under the direction of Pastors Leo and Norma Davis and frequently shared his faith in Jesus with just about anyone who would listen.  Larry was so confident in his firm relationship with God that he frequently remarked how “cool” a guy that God is, how great a sense of humor God has and how he was assured that God always heard him when he prayed.

Larry matriculated through the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and after graduating, joined the United States Navy where he served and was honorably discharged after six years.  Larry was very skilled in multiple areas over the span of his life and he obtained many certifications and licenses to include one he was especially proud of, Electrical Instrumentation Technician.  Larry also was a very astute business man and entrepreneur, owning or co-owning multiple businesses with his wife to include his latest business, Burns Maintenance Plus.  Larry also had a particular love for building and repairing structures, flying drones, fishing and mastering any type of technical gadget.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Shenavian F. Burns; children: Aaron S. Burns, TeQuera L. Burns, Mario D. Burns, Shomari J. Williams and Janette Y. Burns; brother: Gregory Mellerson; sisters: Thelma Burns, Ella Glosten, Delores Palmer and Gloria Jean Peters; aunt: Susie Gardner; cousin: Willie Gardner; devoted friends: Joseph Evans and Jonathan Davis and a host of extended family and friends who loved him and will miss him very much.

Larry was predeceased by his father: Bennie Burns, mother: Willa Mae Edwards, brother: Jeffrey Mellerson, sister: Donna Kay Holloway and step-mother, Snowbell Burns.

Larry was a beautiful soul who always saw the good in people and never seem to meet a stranger.  He could and would light up any room that he was in and if you were ever in his presence, he had the innate ability to make you feel special.  Larry selflessly touched the hearts of all those he came in contact with and will be greatly missed by all.
