Larry Joseph Haugen, 70, of Orange Park, FL, passed away February 20th, 2024. He was born to Arthur Olando Haugen and Ellen Elizabeth Chumley Haugen in Minneapolis, on September 20th, 1953, while the family was residing in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
The youngest of four siblings by 10 years, Larry remained home long after his brother Ivan, and two sisters, Rose Ellen and Barbara, had left. He was a great help and comfort to his mother, since his father had always worked long distances away from home. This was especially poignant when living in Duluth, Minnesota, on Christmas Eve of 1970 while Larry was still in high school and his own father died in his arms.
Larry was as slow to anger as he was quick to wit. Thought provoking and analytical, this father, sibling, dear friend, and husband of more than 30 years found it a pleasure engaging in deep discussion—which of course always included a good dose of humor.
By trade, Larry was a builder and woodworker, but always welcomed exploring new things. When his wife, Loree, started college for the first time at the age of 49 to become a registered nurse, Larry was right alongside, supporting her in the studies.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Rose Ellen in 2010, wife Loree in 2013, and oldest son Colby in 2016, Larry is survived by his two sons Luke (wife Sara) and Casey. We will forever cherish our time with Larry, Dad, but are comforted in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Loree.
