Lawrence Smith

Lawrence Smith, age 83, passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by family. He was born on October 19, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. Lawrence proudly served 21 years in the United States Navy, including during the Vietnam War, before continuing his career with the Florida prison system.

Lawrence was a faithful member of Sweetwater Church of Christ for over 40 years and was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Viola Smith; children, Charles Smith and Rachida McCreary; grandchildren, June Smith, Charles Smith Jr., Abygale Smith, Reece Smith, Raina Ziolkowski, and Laura Ziolkowski; sister, Eva Deloris Arvelo; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He will be remembered for his strength, faith, service, and unwavering love for his family.
