Ms. Linda Osteen Lee, aged 78, passed away Easter Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida, April 9th, 2023. She was born November 2, 1944, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Linda graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1962. Following that, she worked briefly at Duval Medical Center and Winn Dixie before joining Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) in 1968. She was one of the first two females hired by JSO as a detective in the Juvenile Division. She served with JSO for 27 years in various positions, finally retiring in 1995, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, sewing, relaxing by her pool, and spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Nana.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Marion Fischer Osteen, her mother, Lois Jean Hart Osteen and her younger sister, Carolyn Kay Ray.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Donna Gushanas and her husband Stephen; five grandchildren, Katherine Williams and her husband Dennis, Stephen Gushanas, Benjamin Gushanas, Sarah Gushanas and Zachary Gushanas; one great-grandchild, William Gushanas; sister, Jean Shelfer and her husband Don; nephews, Wade Flowers, Jeffrey Ray and family, Michael Ray and family; niece, Julie McQuiddy and family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
