Margaret J. Spiak, BSN, of Middleburg, FL, entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2020 with her husband, John, and sister, Alice, by her side at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL.
Margaret was born November 23, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY, to Grace and Raymond Tellefsen. She moved to Nellliston, NY, with her family as an older child. Margaret graduated from Fort Plain Central High School in 1979. She received her LPN license through the Fulton-Hamilton-Montgomery County BOCES in 1988. Margaret pursued her Registered Nursing license through St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1994, and completed online classes to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. Her nursing career consisted of many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. She and her husband moved to Florida and she worked at St. Vincent’s Clay County Hospital during the last five years of her career. Margaret was a very caring nurse to her many patients.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Raymond Tellefsen.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 20 years, John J. Spiak; one brother, George Tellefsen, Brooklyn, NY, and two sisters, Lois Sweeney, Amherst, NY, and Alice Beauchamp, Chippewa Bay, NY, and their spouses. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret had a special canine companion, Shelly.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Church of Rural Grove, 170 Rural Grove Road, Sprakers, NY 12166, with a burial following at Ames Cemetery in Ames, NY. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166; Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 County Road 220, Middleburg, FL 32068 or to The American Cancer Society.
