Martha Aldridge Mandt, lovingly known as “Marty,” passed away on February 4, 2026. She was born on September 9, 1938, in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky, the third child of Lewis and Sally Aldridge. Her early years were shaped by the close‑knit Aldridge family and the values they carried with them through each move and new beginning.
When Marty reached school age, the Aldridge family relocated to Lexington, Kentucky, where her father expanded his automobile business. They settled in the Picadome/Lafayette neighborhood, and it was there that Marty and her siblings began their education. Soon after, Lewis Aldridge accepted a new opportunity to manage an automobile business in Fort Lauderdale, prompting the family’s move to South Florida - a place that would become central to Marty’s life.
Marty attended Pompano Beach High School, graduating with the Class of 1957, and continued her studies at the University of Miami. She pursued Fashion Merchandising, a field that suited her natural eye for style, professionalism, and grace. Her talent led her to a position in Ladies’ Fashion with Graves, Cox & Company, a respected Lexington clothier.
In August 1960, during a visit with Kentucky friends at Boonesborough Beach, Marty met Edward “Ed” Mandt, who had recently completed active‑duty military service. Their connection was immediate and enduring. Marty and Ed were married in Lexington on February 10, 1962, beginning a partnership marked by devotion, resilience, and shared adventure. At the time of her passing, they had shared nearly sixty‑four years of marriage.
In 1966, Marty and Ed welcomed their son, Michael, a moment that reshaped her life with purpose and joy. Marty was a devoted and steady mother, offering Michael the same quiet strength, loyalty, and encouragement that defined her character. In later years, she found deep happiness in her role as a grandmother, cherishing every moment with her grandchildren, Kendall Edes and Cole Mandt, who brought light and pride into her life.
Marty later joined Nova Southeastern University and Broward College, serving as Manager of Circulation and Student Employment for their combined library system - one of the largest academic library collections in Florida. Her work supported students, faculty, and staff, and she became known for her dedication to safety, organization, and the stewardship of academic resources. Her commitment to secure, well‑run library environments reflected her deep belief in the value of education and the responsibility of institutions to protect their communities.
Marty’s life was marked by quiet strength and steadfast loyalty. Those who knew her remember a woman who was steady, capable, stylish, and fiercely protective of the people she loved.
Marty is survived by her devoted husband of nearly sixty‑four years, Edward Mandt; her beloved son, Michael (Amy) Mandt; and her cherished grandchildren, Kendall (Trevor) Edes and Cole Mandt. She is also survived by her loyal dog, Danny Boy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Sally Aldridge.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her quiet strength, and her unwavering spirit.
