Mary Jane Frith was born on October 16, 1949. She was the third eldest of nine children born to the late Jackson and Mary A. Ivey of East Chicago, IN.
Mary attended the East Chicago Public School Systems and graduated from Roosevelt High School and later moved to Kilene, TX. She later moved to Gary, IN where she met, fell in love and soon after she married Alvin Frith. Their Dupont careers took them from East Chicago to Niagara Falls, to Starke, FL, where she retired as a Production Supervisor. She came out of retirement twice to be Grandma’s taxi.
Mary accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age at Antioch Baptist Church. She later joined St. John Baptist Church, where she worked in the Finance Room and served as a Deaconess prior to her being called home.
Mary was a master seamstress, a home decorator, world traveler, but most of all a child of God.
Mary was preceded in death by parents, Jackson and Mary A. Ivey; brothers, Jackson Ivey, Sr. and Nathaniel L. Ivey and Sister, Sara L. Ivey Harris.
Mary leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories, her loving husband, Alvin Frith; children, DaLawnda (Harold) Dumas of Middleburg, FL, Kraig (ZuQuanda) Long of Jacksonville, FL, Andre (Nicole) Frith of Jacksonville, FL, brothers, Dawn (Letha) Ivey of Knoxville, TN., Dwan Ivey of East Chicago, IN; sister, Bernice Gillis, Veronica Brown and Donna Ivey, all of East Chicago, IN; grandchildren, Kraig Jr, Diamond, Drew, Tazmaray, Zoe, Andre Jr., Romain, Arielle and baby Raya; aunt, Clara (William) Walker, Munster, IN; godsons, Levy Jr., Julian and Enzo; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St John Missionary Baptist Church, 135 Brickyard Road Middleburg, FL 32068.
