Mary Hill McNeal, age 69, died on Sunday, July 2, 2023. As the Lord carried her into heaven, Mary was greeted by those who had preceded her in death, including her husband of 47 years, Steven F. McNeal; her son, Dale F. McNeal, and her parents, Donald C. and Mary O. Hill. Mary graduated from Robert E. Lee Senior High in Jacksonville in 1972. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville University in 1996. Mary’s career included being the Director of Investor Relations with Koger Equities and a Professional Legal Secretary and Office Manager for several renowned Estate and Gift Tax Attorneys. Mary was admired and respected by all who worked with her as a woman of honor and integrity.
Mary was a loyal, devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, and spending time with her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jacob Henry (Levi and Addison) and daughter-in-law, Kendra Combs McNeal (Alyssa, Joshua, Nathan and Cayden). Mary was blessed with and enjoyed her large extended family, including: Don and Tracy Hill (Alison and George Martenson [Emma], Paul and Allison Darnell, and Matthew Darnell), Marjorie and David Via (Carmen and Tim Burgess [Jacob and Hailey Burgess {Winnie and Rosie}, Kyle and Micailah Happe {Amaya}, and Stephen and Hallie Burgess]), Bill and Darlene Hill (William and Rene Hill [Elijah and Joanna], Walter and Madaline Hill [Dimitri, Abel and Evie], Jeff and Rosemary Hazard [Hannah and Hope], Ed and Roseann Hartwell, and Wesley Hill), John and Alitha Hill (Kayleigh Stephenson [River and Ryker], Taylor and Kimberly Hill, and Jason Newman), Mike and Tara Mason, Pat and Ruthanne Mason (Paul Mason, James Donaldson and Mary Mason [Patrick and Kurtiss Mason], and Ian and Emily Patterson [Elliott Patterson]). Mary will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Taylor Johnson of St. Vincent’s Medical Center at Riverside, and the doctors and staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center Middleburg, UF Shands Gainesville, and Community Hospice for their many acts of kindness and support.
The Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Promise Land Baptist Church at 2197 Blair Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32221, with her nephew, Pastor Timothy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
