Michael Lee Stewart

Michael "Mike" Stewart was born in Warren, Ohio, March 31, 1950 and moved to Deming, New Mexico, when he was around four years old. He lived there until he graduated from high school in 1968 and joined the U.S. Navy. Mike served as a Hospital Corpsman for 30 years, serving in Vietnam with the Marines, aboard three different submarines and surface ships, and retired as the Force Master Chief of the Medical Department in 1998.   

He began riding motorcycles while in high school and the love and passion for motorcycling never left him. He was involved in Christian motorcycle ministry since 1999. Mike was the original Director of the Hibernia Baptist Chapter of F.A.I.T.H. Riders Motorcycle Ministry in Fleming Island, Florida, was named as the F.A.I.T.H. Rider State Coordinator for Florida, became the Assistant National Director in 2013 and in April of 2016, was named as the National Director.  

Mike and his wife, Diane, have been married for 34 years. He has three daughters and 10 grandchildren. Mike and Diane attended Hibernia Baptist Church for the past 17 years. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Kay McEntee, a sister, Suzanne Stewart, and a brother, Don Stewart.     

On Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023, following an event honoring Veterans and law enforcement, Mike was riding his motorcycle home, stopped at a traffic light, and there was an accident. At the closing of his eyes, and opening them again, he was looking into the face of Jesus. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 Hwy 17, Fleming Island, Florida 32003. Interment with miliary honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
