Milagros Perez Cheatham, 78, passed away on April 23, 2026 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on November 8, 1947 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to the late Eladio Perez Rodriguez and Rosa Galarza Vera.
Milagros received her Associates Degree in Applied Science (AAS) working as a licensed Laboratory Technician for Saint Barnabas Hospital and Palmer-White Labs in Bronx, NY.
Milagros was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and a guiding light to everyone who knew her. She lived her life to the fullest with love, generosity and kindness. Dedicating her life to her family, she always put others before herself. She will be remembered for her nurturing heart and the love she gave so freely.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness in Argyle and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, puzzles, arts and crafts, cooking and writing poems.
Family members preceding Milagros in death are her parents and son, Leonel De Jesus.
Milagros is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Cheatham; children Milagros L. Melendez, Saul De Jesus, Ashley Cheatham and Wayne Burnett; grandchildren, Matthew Melendez, Steven De Jesus, Jonathan S. De Jesus, Saul De Jesus, Jr., Kaitlyn S. DeJesus, Marylynn De Jesus, Joshua De Jesus, McKenzie Burnett, Riley Burnett and Dominique Burnett; great-great grandchildren, Jayvian De Jesus, Mason Matthew Colon, Jaysley Ann Miracle Lorino and Adonis De Jesus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, 1:00 p.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
