Queen Williams Obituary

Queen Elizabeth Williams passed away, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, peacefully at her home in Middleburg. FL, surrounded by her family. She was born February 15, 1952, in Hugh, Florida, to the late Fred Lee Sapp, Sr. and Bertha Mae Sapp. They later moved to Middleburg, Florida when she was ten years old from the turpentine camp, known as “Mr. Jack Quarters”. Queen was proud of her history and family heritage and was not ashamed to tell you her “backstory” as she would call it.

Queen Elizabeth Williams attended Dunbar High School and later obtained her G.E.D. She worked at Hudson Supply Company for many years making medical supplies. She worked various jobs over her lifetime, but her passion was to become an educator. While working a full-time job, she decided to go back to school to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in “Exceptional Student Education” from the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida, where she graduated at the top of her class. She was a teacher for the Clay County School District for over 20 plus years. During her teaching career, she also received certifications to teach Science and Biology in addition to Special Education. Some of the many schools she taught at and left her lasting blueprint, while enriching the minds of her students were Wilkinson Jr. High, Bannerman Learning Center, FLYCA and later retiring from Oakleaf Jr. High School.

Queen met her husband Roosevelt Williams 52 years ago, whom she adored. From their union, they had two children.

Helping and caring for others was another passion she had. She loved serving in her church and being a help to others within and outside of her community, always willing to lend a helping hand. She had a green thumb, that could grow anything, she had a love for plants and gardening. Queen also had a love for butterflies. She was a member at New Hope for the Lost Christian Fellowship under the Sr. Pastor Terry L. Suggs. Her mother would often jokingly tell her you have your “Peter Spirit” today. Her favorite sayings were “Praise Him” and “Higher Hope” encouraging others to come to church for the “Word, Worship and Praise and not for people!”

Queen was preceded in death by her Parent’s Fred L. Sapp, Sr., and Bertha M. Sapp; Brothers, Fred L. Sapp, Jr.; Anthony R. Sapp and Ezzard C. Sapp; Sister, Karene C. Godbolt.

She leaves to celebrate her well lived life, Daughter, Corlana Q. Jefferson (Tony); Son, Orynthyal J. Williams all of Middleburg, FL; Bonus Daughter/Niece, Pastor Kjersti Allen (Darryl) Orange Park, FL; Grandchildren, Tony "T.G." Jefferson, Middleburg, FL and Oquandiah J. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
