Randall H. Wilsey

Randall H. Wilsey, 70, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on September 13, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi McGuire Price and his parents, Hubert Wilsey and Nellie Wilsey Smith.

Randall is survived by his wife, Leigh; stepchildren, Brannon Lewis (Jimmy), Ian Holman (Carrie); grandson, Rian Holman; sisters, Brenda Yonge and Gaye Howell and many nieces and nephews.

As a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, the younger Randy loved surfing the Jetties off Jax Beach. He later earned a BA in Psychology from UNF and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He met many lifelong friends while working as Assistant Principal for Community Relations at John Gorrie Junior High School.

Following his passion for landscaping, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Following graduation, he worked for two years as a Manager and Buyer for Outside Garden for Home Depot.

In 1995, Randall opened Southern Gates Greenery, a design-build landscape business. He was known for his knowledge of plant material, his understanding of drainage and his creativity, which allowed him to design beautiful landscapes in Orange Park and the greater Jacksonville area. Randall later expanded his business to include low voltage lighting and changed the company to Randall Wilsey LLC, a design-build landscape and lighting company.

Randall was creative with a good eye. He took wonderful, natural light photographs and was a master at sketching. This led him to begin to paint on canvas. He enjoyed painting with friends, attending Art Guild gatherings, and art exhibitions.

Like his painting style, Randall’s personality was strong in communication and letting you know his love for you. His feelings were rarely hidden. Randall shared his heart like he shared plants with friends and family. He nurtured so many people and animals with his sparkling smile, infectious laugh, and warm hugs. He will be missed.

Randall’s family and friends will celebrate his life at a memorial service on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.
