Rena Mae Pearson, 86, passed away on May 21, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on March 5, 1937 in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Frank and Christine Swanson.

Rena attended Howard High School in Chattanooga. She has worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in the healthcare system for Martin Boyd Nursing Home, Standifer Place, Summit House and at Memorial Hospital as a Lab Technician.

Rena was member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church where she served as Chairman of the Deaconess Board. She served as an active member of the church’s Usher Board, Secretary, and maintaining the facility for many years. While in Jacksonville, she was a member and Mother of Shekinah International Ministries.

Rena enjoyed reading a variety of books, but her favorite was the Word of God. She loved going on vacations and spending time with her family.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert Vaughn and Walter Lee Swanson; sisters, Mary Smith and Bettie Turner and uncle, George Lillard.

Rena is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Nathaniel Pearson of Jacksonville; children, Debra Pearson-Beasley, Jacksonville, Beverly Ann Pearson, Jacksonville, Nathan Vaughn Pearson, Chattanooga, Dennis Charles Pearson, Chattanooga, Latisha (Tony) Benefield, Atlanta, and a host of foster children; grandchildren, Terrence Toland and Khyrin Beasley, Donald (Lesia) Swoopes, Jr., Andreya Stubbs, Lefabian Pearson, Nicole Pearson, Kisha Smith, Jordan Pearson, Faith and Toni Benefield, great-grandchildren, Nicolo and Nia Toland, Jordan Mcshan and Donald “Trey” Swoopes, III, Anari, Amoria “Momo”, Andre and Alaya “Lay Lay” Sanford, Nataveus and Finley Collier Pearson, Dakota Hamilton and Kolby Cochran, Chyna Smith, Lexis, Joshun and Keshun Reed; sister-in-law, Madeline Swanson; and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and friends.

A Home Going service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Olivet Nation, 4872 Jersey Pike,Chattanooga, TN 37416. The interment will be on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at  Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
