AMCS Richard Henry Wilson, United States Navy (Ret.), husband of the late Alice Joan Wilson, passed away on May 19, 2026.
Richard retired after serving 20 years with the U.S. Navy and achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He later retired as a civilian from Navy Aviation Depot at Naval Air Station Jacksonville after 20 years of service.
Richard was a family man. His whole life revolved around his wife of 55 years, his two daughters, his four grandchildren, his five great-grandchildren. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events - never missing a game from little leaguers all the way to high school games and loved attending their scholastic events. Richard enjoyed following Orange Park High School (OPHS) sports program. He was a huge Penn State fan and loved to watch all their football games. He also enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Richard is survived by two daughters, Kelly Smallwood (Bryan) and Karen Padgett; his four grandchildren, Kyle Smallwood (Conner), Joshua Smallwood (Sarah), Ashley Padgett and Briana Smallwood; his five great-grandchildren, Archie, Henry, Fletcher and Peyton Smallwood and Nathan Smith; his sister, Michelle Hart and a host of other family members and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
