On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, Robert “Rob” Charles Cornett, loving husband and father of two children and three stepchildren, passed away in a vehicle accident at the age of 46. Rob was born on March 7, 1974 in Jacksonville, FL, to Michael Sherman Cornett and Lorri Ann Fortune Howard. Rob graduated from Orange Park High School in 1992. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps prior to graduation, and upon graduation, left for boot camp. Following his time in the Marine Corps, Rob returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, FL (Orange Park). Mr. Cornett was employed with Clean Harbors (formerly Veolia) for the last nine years.
On August 18, 2018, he married Jenny Aguaveva. On this day, a beautiful blended family was bonded together to form a family unit. They shared custody of his two sons, Michael and Matthew Cornett.
Rob had a love for nautical things: diving, fishing and water sports. He simply found peace in being surrounded by water. He was a hard worker and provider. He loved his church family at The Springs Church in Orange Park. Rob had a passion for ALL people to know Christ. He was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. Rob enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all, all who knew him knew, he loved his wife, Jenny, deeply.
Rob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Captain USN Charles "Chuck" Sherman Cornett, and his stepmother, Marleen Claire Cornett.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny; his two sons, Michael and Matthew; and three stepchildren: son, Andrew (AJ), and daughters, Emily (Luke) Minzenmayer and granddaughter, Mckennah; and Ivy (Eli) Lowery and granddaughter, Harper; his mother, Lorri (Ben) Howard; father, Michael Cornett; sister, Melissa Cornett and stepsister, Cassandra (Jarred) Espe, and nieces, Autumn and Charlotte, and nephew, Ryan; grandparents, Robert and Betty Fortune, and Betty Cornett; uncle, Mark Fortune and cousins, Joseph (Nikki) Fortune and Archer; aunt Julie (Mark) Larson and cousin, Elle; uncle Scott (Sarah) Fortune and cousins, Logan, Cuyler and Brody; uncle Mark (Teresa) Cornett and cousins, Mark Jr. and Michael; aunt Kathy (Mike) Ray and cousins, Michael, Patricia, Ricky and Gray; and aunt Sandy (Clif) Cherry.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at The Springs Church 317 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073, with the viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m., and a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Springs Church. All donations will go toward community outreach.
