Robert Pollard, III Obituary

Robert Lee Pollard, III, affectionately known as “Piggy,” and known for his radiant smile, passed away July 31, 2020. Piggy was born August 19, 1977, to the late Robert Lee and Shirley Marie Pollard.

Piggy exhibited distinguished athletic abilities at an early age and at the young age of thirteen, he was scouted by the Kansas City Royals baseball team. He enjoyed spending his time honing his skills in football and baseball. The game of football was truly his passion and he will be long-remembered for his football talent and accomplishments. However, he was equally as talented in baseball and also enjoyed track and basketball. Piggy graduated from Orange Park High School in the class of 1996. During his senior and junior years, he was recognized in the top 10 distinguished football athletes of the year. In his senior year, a number of professional Major League Scouts (Yankees, Braves, Royals and Reds) attended his baseball games. Piggy was recruited by numerous colleges and universities. He later signed a National Letter of Intent to play football with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Later he briefly played in the Orlando Predators Arena Football League. Robert was a very special athlete and will be revered by others for a very long time and will remain well-known and loved throughout his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Robert Lee Pollard, Sr., Willa Kate Johnson Pollard; and Jacob Miller; uncles, Johannes Pollard, Terry Pollard, Dante Pollard, Devaughn Wright and Anthony Jefferson and aunt, Amy Rose Zeon.

Robert is survived by his wife, Yolanda Pollard; children, Alexis Pollard, Aliyah Pollard and Aseer Pollard; step-children, Kobe Coffil and Asja Coffil; grandmother, Jessie Mae Green; grandchildren, Josiah, Aniya and Alianna; brother, Rico Octavius Pollard; sisters, Miriam Sebrena Byrd (Greg) and Robinette Pollard;in-laws, Jacque Tillery (Kieth); uncles, Stephan Pollard (Valorie), Pierre Pollard, Cabot Pollard, Lawrence Thomas (Lisa), Sherman Smith, James Smith, Philip Miller (Linda), Sean Miller, Michael Miller, Rodney Miller, Al More (Olivia) and Michael More; aunts, Deborah Fleming, Ingrid Pollard, Gwendolyn Miller Smith, Mary Smith (Leon), Lisa Santiago (Josh) and Debra Masline (Jarrett).

Robert had a big heart for others and was always willing to show kindness to strangers. He was a caring, fun-loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. His memory will be forever cherished and he will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A visitation will be  held on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073.

Funeral Services Saturday for Robert is open to immediate family only:

Wife, Children, Brother, Sisters, Uncles, Aunts (and their spouses), Grandparents, and Pall Bearers, Singers and Ministers.

This is due to the guidelines of CDC COVID-19 policy; only 50 to attend.

We apologize to everyone unable to attend, because so many loved him.
