Affectionately known as “Dickie Boy”
Romus Dixon, Jr. 70, peacefully transitioned
this life on August 8, 2025
Romus, “aka” Dickie Boy, was a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on March 28, 1955, the third child to Romas and Bertha Lee Dixon. His parents and sibling, Betty Lou Maynor, preceded him in death.
Romus was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, the light of his life.
Romus grew up in the Sweetwater community where he attended Duval County public schools. After he completed school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country for 10 years at Fort Campbell Kentucky, where he earned the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). After ending his military career, he continued his passion for serving others, working as a firefighter at Mayport and NAS Jacksonville, where he dedicated himself to protecting lives and supporting his community. Due to a sustained injury, Romus was medically disabled from working. After retiring, Romus was a man of simple joys and passions. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman, spending countless peaceful hours on his boat fishing, and in the forest hunting.
Romus was a devoted Florida Gators fan. He had a beautiful spirit and lived by a simple rule: If he had it, you had it. His kindness and selflessness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
At an early age, Romus was taught God’s Word at home and in church. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at an early age. On Friday, August 8, 2025, Romus Dixon made his transition from the physical to spiritual realm. His loving family was at his bedside.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving family; five devoted Children: Romus DeShawn Dixon (Rene’e), Fitzpatrick A. Dixon, Latasha Mills West (Ron), Ronita Herrera (CA), and Ronnie Stone; Brothers: Romas “Pete” Dixon (Tampa), Charles George, Michael Dixon, Dwayne Dixon (Rita), Gregory Dixon, and Douglas Dixon; Sisters: Patricia Vecenty, Annetta Johnson (Leon), Wanda Harvey (Larry), Peggy Tiller (Willie), Brenda Pulliam (Dennis), and Cherie Dixon; Grandchildren: Jade Dixon, Selassia Dixon, Fitzpatrick Dixon, and Elijah Dixon; Great-Grand: Aiden Dixon; Aunt: Carrie Lundy; Uncle: Hezekiah Goodman; special friends; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other friends will also cherish fond memories of Romus.
