Samuel A. Alumpe, 82, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, with his bleoved wife by his side. Born in Manila, Philippines, Sam proudly served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service. He went on to serve his community for another 22 years with the US Post Office before finally retiring. He lived a rich and fulfilling life devoted to his family and the simple pleasures that brought him joy.
For 53 beautiful years, Sam was the devoted husband of Lucy Jane Guyos Alumpe. Together, they built a loving home and raised two wonderful children: daughter Lori Mae and her husband Michael, and son Samuel J. Alumpe and his wife Amber. Sam’s greatest pride was his four cherished grandchildren—Mia, Jane, Adelaide, and Owen—who brought endless light and laughter to his life.
Sam was a man who found peace and purpose wherever water met the horizon. Whether casting a line from a boat or trying his luck offshore, he was happiest with a fishing rod or net in hand and the promise of the day’s catch ahead. His passion for fishing was matched only by his love for his family and his enjoyment of woodworking projects in his garage. Sam was a quiet man with a sharp wit and a gift for quick, clever responses that could bring a smile to anyone’s face. He had an exceptional mind for mathematics and an impressive memory that served him well throughout his life. A loyal fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sam never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team, sharing his enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.
Above all, Sam was a family man who loved deeply and was immensely proud of each member of his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love that continues to bind his family together.
Sam was preceded in death by his father Alfonso Alumpe, mother Alberta Alumpe, sisters Florentina Larioza, Natividad Calado, and Maria Mercurio, and brother Cenon Alumpe.
Sam will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, his brothers Antonio Alumpe and Renato Alumpe, his sisters Carmelita David and Veronida Flores, many nieces and nephews, and all who had the privilege of knowing this generous, gentle, loving man who found joy in life’s simple treasures.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life Service and Military Honors at 4:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
