Sandra Crist Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Shoup Crist, was born in Toledo, OH, on 1 July 1953.  Sandy shares her birthday with her mother.  During her early years in Ohio, she spent her time with her Grandmother Walz, learning about gardens, decorating and southern living.  Her father rejoined the Navy Seabees as a builder in the in the mid 60's, and the family lived to Davisville, RI; Philadelphia, PA; and Gulfport, MS.

In Gulfport, she met and married, Paul, in February 1975.  He was a Navy Seabee, stationed in Gulfport.  During their forty-six years and six months of marriage, they lived in; Kenitra, Morocco; Roosevelt Roads, PR; Boston, MA; Gulfport, MS; Virginia Beach, VA; and Orange Park, FL.  After Paul’s retirement from the Navy in 1995, Sandy pursued the career she always wanted, working at CSX Technology and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Sandy enjoyed biking, marathons, arts and crafts, painting and yoga.  She especially enjoyed attending her son Jason’s high school sporting events.  She was a very giving and caring person, who donated her time volunteering at the USO and at the Ronald McDonald House during Christmas.  Sandy loved animals, supporting the Clay County animal shelters with food and money donations.  She was extremely happy being surrounded by her four cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert Shoup and Paulina Walz.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Paul; her son, Jason and her two sisters, Dana Shoup Cohea and Christa Shoup Hofacre.
