Sandra Ann Morrow Waddell of Orange Park, FL, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 17, 1938, to the late Gladys L. Morrow and James J. Morrow. Sandra grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Paxon High School in 1955. In 1956 she married her true love, the late Maxie Waddell. They raised three children and were married for 67 years.
Sandra was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker for many years. She served as an ordained Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church and ensured her children attended church regularly.
When her children were older, Sandra accepted a position at the Jacksonville offices of Warner Brothers Pictures. She excelled, becoming the first woman promoted to Lead Booker in Florida. After she retired from Warner Brothers, she worked as a teller at several banks in the Jacksonville area.
God graced Sandra with a servant’s heart; she always placed the needs of others ahead of her own. All were welcome in her home and at her table – and it was a very popular table, because Sandra was an excellent cook. She was also a skilled seamstress, an avid reader, and an expert gardener, serving as President of the Cherry Laurel Garden Club.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie; son, Chris Waddell; sisters, Barbara Spaulding and Gail Robuck, and brother, James Morrow.
She leaves behind her daughters, Lenora Waddell-Taylor (Rob) of Fernandina Beach, FL., and Sharon Wofford of Fleming Island, FL; daughter-in-law, Tansy Waddell of Orange Park, FL; brother, Mitchell Morrow of Cedartown, GA; grandchildren, Laura Phelps (Daniel), Preston Waddell and Savannah Beaty (Matthew), and great grandchild, Daniel Phelps, II.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park. Sandra will be laid to rest at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073.
