Shirley Heath Davis, 75, passed away on January 14, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on August 23,1948 in Jacksonville, FL, to the late John Wesley Heath and Amanda White Heath.
Shirley was a lady of God. She never used profanity, smoked or drank alcohol. She was not worldly or nosey, and did not believe in “hanging with groups.” She loved the Lord and the word and she was submissive, humble and believed in the power of prayer. Shirley was a sweet angel in her home and everywhere she went. When you saw her, you wanted to protect her. You felt love in her presence because she had the Lord in her life. She left us with many fond memories. Son Lawton Jr., recalls, “in the ‘70s when I was little, I used to walk pair toed. She made it possible for me to get braces on my legs to straighten them. I had hearing and speech problems and she stayed up late with me when I was doing my homework. One thing I loved about my mother was she never buckled against my daddy. That’s how their relationship was genuine and pure.” Shirley never had to go into the streets for anything, never had to get her hands dirty because she had three sons and a husband.
Shirley worked for the Duval County Courthouse for a short time and 27 years for the Duval County School Board. She also previously worked as a librarian. Shirley was a member of Trumpet in Zion, where she served on the Mother’s Board and as a Sabbath School Teacher. Shirley loved serving the Lord, praying for others, watching westerns, going out for milkshakes, and spending time with her family.
