Steven Lamar Minkley, 57, passed away at his home in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 27, 2026.
Steve was born on July 1, 1968, in Satellite Beach, Florida, son of Raymond and Linda Minkley. A longtime resident of Jacksonville, Steve was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, teammate, coworker, and friend whose life touched many people.
A gifted multi-sport athlete, Steve enjoyed an exemplary athletic career in basketball and football at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville. He received multiple Division 1 scholarship offers and chose to play football for his dream team, the University of Florida. After college, football remained an important part of his life, sharing a great love for the Jacksonville Jaguars and fantasy football leagues with his closest friends and family.
Steve had a long and successful career in intermodal transportation and supply chain logistics, starting his career as a stevedore, ship’s agent, and transportation coordinator, then moving into operational logistics under the banner of his own business. He was known for his strong work ethic and business acumen but even more so for the genuine relationships he built with his clients and the care he extended to everyone he worked with.
Of all the roles he held, none was more important to Steve than being a father and grandfather. He was a proud, present, and deeply loving father to Peyton, Madison, and Harrison and a devoted grandfather to James and Penelope. Family meant everything to him, and his greatest happiness came from time spent with those he loved.
Among Steve’s other avid pursuits were golf, video games, and any good-natured competition. He was a passionate and knowledgeable TV and movie buff and loved to connect with anyone over the latest TV series or new film. He will be remembered for his vibrant and competitive personality as well as his kind, easy-going, and humble spirit. Whether sharing a game, a story, a laugh, or simply spending time together, Steve had a way of making moments memorable.
Steve is survived by his parents, Raymond and Linda Minkley; his children, Peyton (Callie) Minkley, Madison Minkley, and Harrison Minkley; his brother, Chris (Katie) Minkley; his sister, Kim (Loi) Minkley Tai; and his grandchildren, James and Penelope.
Steve was a warm and loving presence in the lives of those who knew him. His love for his family, his generous spirit, and the memories he created will continue to live on. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life event will be held in early July. Details to be determined.
