Traci Britton Obituary

Mrs. Traci Ann Britton, 54, passed away October 14, 2021 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born March 11, 1967 in New Orleans, LA, to the late Betty Jane Bjorensen and James Gerald Stearns, Sr.

She was a member of the graduating Class of 1985 from Cabrini High School. She later attended University of Louisiana as well as the University of New Orleans.

Mrs. Britton worked for Bank of America, Barnett Bank, SouthTrust and BB&T, starting as a teller and working up to Assistant Vice President. She was recognized on numerous occasions for her performance and outstanding service in banking and the community. After working in banking for over 20 years, she accepted the position of Director of Finance with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce. She left there to be the President of JV Britton Inc. for 13 years. Most recently Traci was a member of the Consumer Lending Department with Vystar Credit Union, where she was recognized with the Newcomer Award for her exceptional performance in her first six months.

Mrs. Britton was a graduate of and then mentor for the Leadership Clay program. She volunteered on many occasions for Breast Cancer Awareness and YMCA Youth Sports. She was the Assistant Swim Coach at Bishop John J. Snyder High School in Jacksonville in 2010.

As a Navy Wife, Mother and Patriot, Ms. Traci wore many hats during Navy deployments, including numerous deployments to the Middle East. Traci’s loves and interests included traveling the country to visit new places, meeting new people and whitewater rafting.  She enjoyed hiking various trails in Florida looking for new birds to record in her logbook, which she enjoyed sharing with her friends. She also enjoyed trying new restaurants and then recreating recipes at home.

Traci was one of the Founding Members at Orange Theory Fitness Oakleaf, where she enjoyed the comradeship of the coaches and her fellow “Noon Crew” athletes. Although not a regular member, she was a part of the Blackfin CrossFit family.

She was a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints and her beloved LSU Tigers. She enjoyed going to the local sporting events and cheering for the Iceman and Jumbo Shrimp with her friends and family.

Traci is survived by her devoted husband, James Vernon Britton; loving daughter, Kailin McKinley Britton; brothers, Gerald James Stearns, Jr. and David Michael Stearns; niece and goddaughter, Katie Stearns-Fitzsimmons and her husband, Sean Robert Fitzsimmons; cousins, Brennan James Fitzsimmons and Ellie Katherine Fitzsimmons; nephew, Michael Ryan Sterns, as well as numerous cousins, and hundreds of friends she considered family!
