Wayne Edward Meyer, Jr. passed away August 19, 2021 in Middleburg, FL, because even the strongest of warriors are eventually called to return to meet their creator. Wayne has returned to God with his trials successfully completed, leaving a legacy that will live on through all of the people he helped and the family he strengthened. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Meyer; his son, Jacob (Melissa) Meyer, and grandson, Isaac Meyer, who has inherited his wit and sarcasm.
It is impossible to give the full recognition of what Wayne did to help everyone around him. Even in the end, while he fought for his life, he managed to solve the problems of others right up to the last day. Wayne seemed to always know what is and would be needed and whatever happened, things would always find a way to work out for those close to him, even at risk to himself.
Wayne retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He was known as “Nascar Eddie” during his time racing open-wheeled modifieds on dirt tracks. Wayne was a member of several organizations such as the American Legion and held many awards, including Clay County's Mentor of the Year.
