William Hopkins, III Obituary

William Hart Hopkins, III went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1945, in Waycross, GA, to the late William Hart Hopkins, Jr and Betty Hopkins.

Ater graduating from Alburn University, Bill joined the United States Navy for several years. He eventually moved to Chicago, IL where he met the love of his life, Marvelle. They met in Downtown Chicago at a Tall Club meeting and got married in June of 1974. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Orange Park, FL where they lived for 50 years and raised two wonderful sons.

The ‘Southern Gentleman’ and ‘Big City Girl’ enjoyed a blessed life in Orange Park. Watching Will and David grow up and then beloved Dalton, were his greatest joy. Bill enjoyed being his son’s scout leader and basketball coach. He was their biggest fan, never missing a game or an activity. He was their much-loved role model and leaves a beautiful legacy.

Over the years, Bill became an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunrise. He loved volunteering at Waste Not Want Not and in recent times, he and Marvella facilitated Grief Share where he was a blessing to many.

All of us who loved Bill are grieving his loss but we get peace that he is reunited with his beloved son, Will and all his family and friends who passed before him. He will be greatly missed but leaves a beautiful legacy of faith and love.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Will.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marvelle Hopkins; son, David (Shannon); grandson, Dalton; brother, Marvin and family and a host of other family members and friends.
