William Edgington Obituary

William Larry Edgington, age 88, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida.  

He was born July 9, 1937, in Highland County, Ohio, son of Vernon Edgington and Jesse L. Young Edgington. 

Larry was educated in the Bright Local School System and joined the Air Force in August 1954 at the age of 17. Following boot camp and tech school is New York, Illinois and South Carolina he was stationed in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1958. He then returned to Ohio and worked in the auto industry before re-enlisting in the Air Force and was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB and in Michigan. In 1962 he left active duty and joined the Air Force Reserves and Civil Service. He then worked as an air technician at Wright Patterson AFB. After several more years of training on F111's and helicopters he left civil service in 1984 and the reserves in 1985. During part of his military service, Larry started a real estate business in Clay County, Florida. The last several years in business Larry focused on land development with several projects including Lakeside, Forest, Stonebridge, Lake Asbury, Ravines, Retreat, Silver Creek, Avenues N - Duval, Lexus - Duval and Clay Hill Lots.

Larry was a member of the Sardinia Masonic Lodge F & AM # 254, the Cincinnati Council of Scottish Rite and was a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International;

Surviving is his wife, Christine Edgington, daughter, Carol (Leroy) Ennis, son, Todd (Heather) Edgington, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, two step-sons, Robert (Amy) Strickler and Mike (Jana) Strickler.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Parshall Edgington, sister, Barbara Cochran and two brothers, Kenneth Edgington and Donald Edgington.

Graveside Services will be held at Mowrystown Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, with Pastor officiating. The Highland County Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
