William "Bill" Sanford Cheney, Sr.

William “Bill” Sanford Cheney, Sr., was born on October 11, 1936, he went home to the Lord on October 1, 2021. Bill was born in Washington, Georgia and grew up in Union City, Georgia.

He married Sandra Emerson on January 27, 1961. Bill had a long career in the glass industry as a Sales Representative. Bill loved to golf, fish, and spend time with his family. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida and served as an usher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louise Cheney; his sister, Joan Steward and brother, Edward Cheney.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; his daughter, Sarah (Steve); two sons, William “Sandy” (Ruth), and Patrick (Kathryn); eight grandchildren; Hannah (Jacob), Leah, Emerson, August, Norah, Lily, Amaya, and Takara; in-laws, cousins, many loving nieces and nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, 1140 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073, Pastor David Tarkington, officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
