LCDR (Ret.) Lon Edgar Brugh, 77, passed peacefully September 8, 2016 in Orange Park, FL, with his family at his bedside. Lon was born in Traverse City, MI, to the late Edgar and Iris Brugh.
Lon graduated from Traverse City High School in 1958. In 1962, he followed his passion for aviation and was accepted into Naval Flight Training at NAS Pensacola. Lon was proud of his 23-year career in naval aviation, retiring in 1985. He continued flying as a corporate pilot for Demetree Brothers and other companies.
Lon was exposed to Agent Orange during his military service and in 2003 was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which took his life after a courageous 13-year battle.
Lon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gwen F. Brugh; sons, Charles M. Brugh and Michael Lon Brugh; brother, Jerry L. Brugh (Patty); sister-in-law, Claudette Wilson (John); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
LCDR Lon Brugh will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
A committal service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
