Jimmy Lee Mincey was born on March 24, 1958 to the late George and Ruth Mincey. In the early morning hours of May 7, 2017, he was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jimmy grew up in Twin City, Georgia. At an early age, he became a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Later he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a graduate of Emanuel County Institute. Jimmy began his professional career by joining the United Sates Marine Corps in November 1977. In May of 1987, he married the love of his life, Floraine. To this union three children were born. Jimmy dedicated 30 years of service to the Corps, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major in July 2007. After deciding to make his home in Jacksonville, FL he and his family became members of Hopewell Church.
During his enlistment, he continued to further his education by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix.
Jimmy was a Corvette enthusiast and adored his little white Corvette known to many as Casper. He was a member of the Vette Masters of Florida.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 30 years, Floraine, their children: Bryana (Keelan) Jackson, Jayvian, Maleiah and a precious granddaughter, Ava. Two brothers: George (Diane) of Chesapeake, Va., Nathaniel (Michelle) of Lithonia, Ga. Three sisters: Sandra (A.D.) Pierce, Gloria Ann Mincey, of Twin City, Ga, Minister Alice (Minister Charlie) Reese of Swainsboro, Ga. Brother-in-laws: Benjamin (Juanita) Jackson, Hilton Head, S.C., Demetrius (Ericka) Jackson of Yemassee, S.C. Sisters-in-law: Costa (Chappell) Johnson of Yemassee, S.C., La’Toya Jackson of Swainsboro, Ga. Mother-in-law Lorine Jackson of Yemassee, S.C. God Daughters: Miss Amber Thomas and Miss Demetreyona Jackson. His devoted and loyal friends: Mr. Leon Jordan and Mr. Lewis Bell. Also to cherish his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, and compassionate friends.
