Lawrence J. Beursken passed away on November 7, 2017 in Middleburg, FL. He was born on May 11, 1946 in Lorain, OH to the late John Jacob Beursken and Josephine Mayer Beursken.
Larry graduated from Vermilion High School in Vermilion, OH, class of 1964 and Lincoln Technical School in Horsham, PA. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing and collecting military memorabilia along with several other collections.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service and also served on the Marine Corp Prepositioning Program on Blount Island, Jacksonville, FL. Larry was stationed in Whidbey Island, WA, Warminster, PA, Norfolk, VA, San Diego, CA, Virginia Beach, VA, Key West, FL, Cecil Field and NAS JAX in Jacksonville, FL, also many “West Pac” cruises aboard USS Ticonderoga, USS Ranger and USS Constellation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Thomas Beursken and twin sisters, Marge and Mary Beursken.
Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gayle Henderson Beursken; sons, Eric Michael (Melody) and Brian Christopher (Lauren) Beursken; grandchildren, Paityn May, Shane Mathew Houston, Ever Wren and Shepard Rook Beursken; brother, Raymond Beursken; sister, Joan Gvist; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
Interment will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
